| The
choice of the masthead page for Notebook #6 was easy.
The SDC NavCenter concept was my Christmas,
New Years vacation design assignment. I had a clear
idea
of
what I wanted to do, then, in the process of starting
the drawing, a radical variation asserted itself
and cost me a couple of nights restless sleep. An
image kept imposing itself and returning. Can I make
this into a practical building? We shall see. The
vision is compelling - and now that it is “out,”
I can see the many precursors it has in my own work,
as well as, Wright, Goff and Piano. These are ideas
and forms I have never brought to
this scale before.
A challenging, demanding design that will, no doubt,
evolve as it is developed. A fitting metaphor for
the year to come and the concerns expressed in the
other pages of this Notebook. |
