This is an idea that I supported at the time - and still do - although I was critical of some of its design assumptions of the O’Neill proposal [link: 1977 l5 interview]. I expected that progress would be made on this opportunity over the last quarter of a century. This has turned out to be a false expectation. Why this has turned out this way is an interesting topic in itself [link: a future by design not default]. Although the idea has been dormant for a generation is is beginning to show some signs of life. This is a good things from many different points of view.
